9/121 Barton Cottage and Rose Cottage

Pair of cottages, probably originally one house. Probably late C18. Rubble
stone walls, stone slate roof, one brick and one stone end stack. One storey
and attics. North elevation - adjoining road , has no openings. On south
front, Rose Cottage has, on ground floor, 2 casement windows with glazing bars
under projecting stone lintols, and one window shared with Barton Cottage.
Attic has 2 pent-roofed dormers with casements. C20 extension at west end,
with artificial stone slate roof. Main ground floor room has large open fireplace
with bread oven. Barton Cottage has stable door. Ground floor has one casement
window with glazing bars and the shared window. Attic has one pent-roofed
dormer with casements. C20 extension on right, in matching style, with artificial
stone slate roof. RCHM Monument 13 (Dorset Vol II).
