GV II of Main Street

Shop and workshop. Mid C16. Timber framed and plastered but with painted brick
front. Of 2 storeys with gabled pegtiled roof. Front has 3 iron casements with
rectangular leaded lights and one casement with small panes. Ground floor has a
pair of projecting square bay windows with small panes connected by a flat hood
on shaped brackets and central door with arched head. To the right, a large
square projecting bay with small panes. Large rear wall stack behind western
part of C17. Internally, timber frame is partially exposed showing jowled
posts, evidence for former long wall jetty and simple crown post roof with down
bracing in one truss. Top plates exposed on outside showing halved and bridled
scarf joist.
