Description

TOLLESHUNT KNIGHTS BLIND LANE
TL 91 SW (east side)
3/91 Grove Hall
Farmhouse
- II

House. Early C17, altered in C19/C20. Timber framed, roughcast rendered,
roofed with concrete tiles. 3 bays facing SW with external stack at rear end,
and C19/C20 rear extension. 2 storeys. Ground floor, one C19/C20 sash of 16
lights, one C19/C20 tripartite sash. First floor, 2 similar tripartite sashes.
Central half-glazed door in gabled porch. Jowled posts. Axial beams, partly
chamfered with lamb's tongue stops, plain joists of square section. An
interruption in the chamfers probably indicates the former presence of a central
stack, forming a lobby-entrance. The tiebeams and much of the frame are boxed
in and concealed by plaster. Walls raised, roof rebuilt.
