An C18 timber-framed and plastered house, much altered, 3 storeys, 6 window
range on Rayne Road and 2 window range on Panfield Lane, C19 or later double-hung
sashes with glazing bars and small square panes in the upper sashes, in flush
cased frames. The 1st storey windows have stucco aprons and the front has stucco
quoins. The ground storey has a C20 shop. Roofs tiled, hipped. This is probably
part of the house (rebuilt) where John Bunyan stayed when preaching at Docking
End. RCHM (57).

Nos 2 to 8 (even) form a group with the White Hart Hotel and No 2 Bocking End,
and Nos 1, 3 9, 11 Bank Street, Braintree.
