GV II

House, C17, extended in C18, C19 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles and slate. Lobby-entrance house of 4 bays
aligned North South with axial chimney stack in second bay from North, late
C17. Parallel rear range added in C18, forming an M-roof. Rear ancillary
building of 2 bays at North end, early C19, forming an L-plan. One-bay exten-
sion to North of main range with external chimney stack on North wall, and low
pitched slate roof, late C19. One-bay extension to South, C19, and C20
single-storey extension beyond, together forming the present shop, the remainder
being a house. Aspect E. 2 storeys. Door with 6 fielded panels in moulded
surround with shallow hood, late C18. On ground floor 2 double-hung sash windows
of 10 lights, early C19, 4-panel door to shop and bay shop window. on first
floor 3 similar sash windows. In North extension, one window on each floor,
C20 reproductions of the sash windows. The interior has chamfered axial beams
with lamb's tongue stops, and primary straight bracing. A section of C18
pargetting is enclosed by the rear extension, of zigzag design in panels with
moulded borders, a rare survival.
