House, formerly gardener's cottage for Wittington. Circa 1898. By
Sir Reginald Blomfield, for Hudson Ewbanke Kearley. Red brick with
colourwashed roughcast base walls and chamfered quoins of Ham stone.
Flat wooden eaves, hipped roof of Westmorland slate. Small
rectangular building of one storey and an attic. W. front has
small sash with gauged brick head to right, hipped dormer with sash
and slate cheeks, and 6-panelled door to left with leaded fanlight
and segmental wooden cornice hood on shaped scroll brackets.
Projecting brick wall to left with stone coping and stone ball
finial to front pier. S. front has 3-pane sashes flanking later C20
French doors, all with gauged heads and stone keyblocks. 3 hipped
dormers as on W. front. French doors are approached via brick bridge
over stream. Later garage extension to rear.
