10 Horse Street, Chipping Sodbury is a 17th century townhouse of three storeys, with a two storey wing at the rear which was originally a workshop. The workshop was remodelled in 1793 and the front of the house in 1812. The house was extensively modernised in 1975 and the original windows were replaced. In 1981, two years before listing, the sash windows on the ground floor were replaced by bow windows. Surviving historical features include oak beams (some chamfered), fireplaces, elm floorboards, oak doors, iron door furniture, a shell-headed buffet and a spice cupboard. This photograph was taken in late 2010, prior to an application for listed building consent for work on the property, designed to restore and protect its historic features.
