(South west side)

2/38 Nos.3 and 4 The Square

GV II

Pair of cottages, 1899, for the 1st Duke of Westminster. Red brick
with band at first floor and blue diapering above. Red tile roof with
central chimney having separate flues of spiral moulded brickwork.
Cottages of 1½ storeys and 1½ bays. Each has an end gable and a
smaller projecting gable to the front, partly rendered. Three-light
mullioned windows in moulded brick to parlour and front bedrooms and
one-light window left and right to lower storey only; each light
contains a 3-pane iron casement. The entrance to No.3 is in the end;
to No.4 it is moved to the back.
Interiors not inspected.
The cottages form a formal layout with Nos.l-2 and 5-6 The Square,
q.q.v.
