15/25 Pond Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Mid-late C17, extended late C20. Timber framed, plaster rendered
and long straw thatch, half-hipped roof. Original red brick ridge stack, with C19 flue added in gault brick. C17 plan of single range and three bays. One storey and attic. One gabled dormer on the front with stippled pargetting to the gable end. Four wood horizontal sliding sashes with small panes. Doorway now at the rear. At the rear a late C2O extension. Rendered walls and reed thatched roof. Two storeys. Inside: Plan of original cottage retained with partition wall between former hall/kitchen and service end. Some framing exposed showing typical upward wall bracing from principal posts to wall plate. Clasped side purlin roof exposed.
