Church of St Mary and St Germain (Selby Abbey)

A Grade I Listed Building in Selby, North Yorkshire

Missing shield on Lady's tombed-effigy:

Uploader's Comments

There are 4 small shields on the effigy, this one top right is now blank. There are parts of this effigy now worn with hands and fingers by visitors touching it down the centuries and perhaps the cleaning of it. However, the edges of this shield are not broken but there are signes of chiselled marks where a coat-of-arms once was.
Picture taken 8th Feb., 2011.
