Pair of houses in row. Early C19. Rendered, slate roof. 3
storeys, each 1 window; a 12-pane (4-panes wide) sash in flush
moulded box above 8:12:8-pane bow oriel with dentil cornices.
The late C19 pilaster shop fronts have bold panelled and
pedimented consoles; No.56 has a 3-pane display window on a
panelled riser, with door to the left, and No.56A has curved
quadrant glazing to a deep-set door under transom light. At
first-floor level was formerly either a window, or possibly a
painted advertising panel. There are brick stacks to each
party wall. INTERIOR not inspected.
