SD 92NW TODMORDEN (former M.B.) ASHENHURST ROAD

2/4 Hare and hounds Inn

Public house. Late C18. Watershot masonry, stone slate roof. 2 storeys.
Quoins, added parapet and cornice. 5-bay front. 4th bay has doorway with
monolithic jambs and cornice with single light over. All other bays have double
chamfered mullioned windows of 3 lights to each floor. Quoins to junction of
3rd and 4th bays. Central stack to ridge, 2 other stacks. Built all of a
piece, this building has most of the marks of the late C17 and is therefore an
example of a local survival of the vernacular.
