This house was owned by the local mill owner William Rawson of Halifax. William was a Unitarian and a founder of the Piece Hall cloth Exchange in Halifax. Williams wife was aunt to Dorothy Wordsworth, and Dorothy and William Wordsworth the renown Romantic poet spent 3 months here from 7th February 1794.
