Entrance gate to the Parlington House grounds and was built in 1784 especially to welcome George 111 on his visit to the house,George Gascoigne owner of the estate had substantial interests in the American Colonies and supported the fight for independence hence the words"Freedom Triumph in America" as King George approached saw the words turned in anger and efused to stay at the house and spent the night elsewhere.
