12/ The Old Vicarage


Vicarage now 2 dwellings. C1860. Brick with stone dressings and steeply
pitched tiled roofs. Almost symmetrical plan of central block with
crosswings on east-west axis. Moulded stone string at first floor and
moulded stone plinth and quoins; gabled cross wings have parapets with
moulded stone copings. Two storeys and attic. South Elevation: central
3-light mullioned and transomed sash with cusped heads above C20 entrance
door approached by 4 stone steps with flanking walls and urns. Flanking
wings have large, two storeyed square bay windows with steep stone caps
and 4-light mullioned and transomed sashes with cusped heads. West Elevation:
4 eaves dormers to left with 2-light casements under brick relieving arches.
Original entrance door under timber gabled porch, off centre to right.
Interior: central hall has large stair with carved balustrade of pointed
arches with cusping.
