1/24 Barn about 50 metres west of
- Luney Barton Farmhouse

GV II

Barn. Early - mid C19, with alterations and additions of later C19. Elvan stone
rubble with stone dressings. Bitumenised slate roof with ridge tiles; half-hipped.
Plan: Overall L-plan; the barn was used as a threshing barn, powered from a
waterwheel which was sited at some distance to the west. The range to left has a
dovecote in the upper storey and there is a wing to front right.
Exterior: In the main range, of 2 storeys, all openings are segmental arches in
dressed stone; the main range has ground floor doorway, with tall ventilation slits
at the upper level and a row of square pigeon holes. There is a 2-storey wing to
front right, with similar door and window openings. Attached to front right is a
long single storey range in rubble. The building was not fully accessible at time of
survey (August 1897).
Interior: Not accessible.
Luney Barton Farmhouse is not included.
