23.1.61 Garden walls, screen and
gate to Clophill House

GV II

Garden wails, screen and gate. C18. Red brick walls and piers, gate and
screen of wrought iron. Average height 2.5 metres. Runs approximately 75
metres along road edge turning to run 10 metres along Mill Lane to W and 25
metres along driveway to E. Walls of Flemish bond, with flared header
decoration in some parts, capped by semi-circular bricks. Square brick piers
at irregular intervals, surmounted by capping and variety of urns in
artificial stone. In front of main block of house is fairly plain wrought
iron screen with foliate panels at intervals, set into low brick plinth. A
few metres to R of this, in line with front door, is wrought iron gate with
foliate cresting and side panels.
