NY 33 NW CALDBECK Hudscales

13/103 Hudscales Cottage and
adjoining barn

G.V. II

Farmhouse and barn, now private house. Dated and inscribed over entrance. J. &
H.W. 1738, with late C18 barns. Whitewashed rubble under greenslate roof with
brick chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays, with unoccupied single bay to left and
single-bay barn, all under common roof. C19 stone porch has C20 door in painted
stone surround. Inner door has dated and inscribed lintel. Sash windows in
original chamfered surrounds with stone mullions removed. Small fire windows on
both floors to left. Unoccupied part has plank door in painted stone surround
and unglazed openings. Barn is not whitewashed. 2 plank doors and loft door
above. Continues to left as single storey, single bay. Interior of house has
inglenook with firebeam and spice cupboard recess. Further adjoining barn to
right is listed separately.
