GV II
Retaining Wall and Steps, circa 1896, tentatively attributed to Edwin
Lutyens (Pevsner, and Hubbard), but probably altered by Detmar Blow,
1911, for the 2nd Duke. Pale grey stone and red sandstone. The wings
are balustraded; that to left projects with quadrant corners,
overlooking the southern "Italian" gardens, that to the right has a
balustraded flight of 12 stone steps, central, to the middle terrace.
