Water-powered cornmill and attached cottage, circa 1840. Brown brick
with clay tile roof. 2 storeys to Mill Lane (which crosses the dam),
3 storeys to rear. Boarded door in rebated camber-arched opening
and 4 small-pane casements in camber-arched openings in lower storey
facing lane; 5 Gothick cast iron casements and boarded loading door
with hoist over in upper storey; tapered square chimney at north-east
corner. Boarded double doors, miscellaneous casements to lower 2
storeys and 6 Gothick cast iron windows with inset opening lights to
upper storey at rear. Large iron breastwheel and full train of
machinery, disused. The attached cottage, included for group value,
has altered fenestration, but with unaltered openings facing lane. A
cornmill in Brereton manor is mentioned in Domesday.
