6/17 Old Crowholt Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Dated on datestone CR: 1663. Coursed rubble with ashlar
dressings and stone slate roof. Two storeys with attic. Central
projecting wing with ashlar quoins. C20 3-light windows to ground and
first floors and two light window to attic. Left hand reveal of this
projecting wing has C20 half-glazed door to ground floor and circular
window to first floor in centre of large ashlar stone. Single storey
C20 addition to right. Left hand gable end: C20 chimney breast to
centre. Two-light stone surrounded, chamfered, mullioned window to
left of this. Two single-light attic windows to gable. Substantial
addition at entrance front of 1973.
Interior: Raised and fielded panelling to ground floor room including
frieze of female figures with distended stomachs and volute arms and
sheaves of fruit and flowers below skirts. Inscribed panel CHURCH
WARDENS SEAT/W.A E.C. C.W. 1686 indicates that all of panelling may
have come from elsewhere.
