Turnpike milestone: c.1820. Ashlar buff sandstone slab has a
triangular top and a recess holding a square cast-iron plate reading
"FROM LONDON 170 MILES. FROM MACCLESF. 3 MILES, TO STOCKPORT 9
MILES".

One of a number of'similar milestones erected on the improved Hazel
Grove"Macdldsfield turnpike. One other survives on London Road,
Adlington (q.v.) and 2 in Poynton with Worth.
