Farmhouse circa mid C18, partly remodelled and extended in mid C19. Rubblestone,
rendered. Slate roof with gable ends and rear projecting wing with lower slate roof
with gable ends. Projecting rubblestone stacks, rendered, left with brick shaft.
Stack to rear outshut of rubblestone with granite quoins and re-used moulded granite
cap. Plan originally single depth, 2 room with cross passage, extended to rear in
outshut with further kitchen wing projecting to rear. Farmbuildings continued from
left-hand gable end returning to north to form 'U' shape plan. (q.v. Barn to West of
Haye Barton). 2-storeys and attic. Symmetrical 3 window south front.
Ground floor with 2 mid C20 windows beneath segmental arches on ground floor. Wide
panelled circa late C18 door with C20 glazed porch with slate roof with gable end.
Above 3 mid C20 windows beneath segmental arches. On west gable end hood over first
floor window of outshut.
Interior; C19 fireplace in room on right, black marble with brackets. Roof of 7
bays; principals with cambered collars, lapped and pegged. Circa early C18 gatepiers
directly to south of house. In rubblestone wall. Granite with moulded caps and ball
finials.
Farmstead contains much cut granite with mullions, cills, lintels, cut arches, jambs
and spandrels, some reused in various outbuildings. Probably from earlier Barton
house now demolished.
Seat of Dodson family. Thomas Dodson MP Liskeard in 1705.
