Shippon with threshing floor and granary above. Circa 1860s. Stone rubble with
granite quoins and large granite lintels to ground floor. Much reused dressed
granite, probably from earlier, demolished Barton house. Slate roof with hipped
ends. Shorth projecting wing on front to south west. Stone rubble with lower slate
roof with half-hipped end. 2 storeys, asymmetrical south front. Ground floor with 8
shippon doors and glazed window openings. First floor with 3 pairs of plank doors to
threshing floor with slits between and glazed, partly blocked opening to right. In
projecting wing on left, plank door in opening with stone rubble and granite steps to
left, leading up to loft on first floor. To rear, stone rubble and granite steps
leading up to loft. Water wheel, now removed, originally worked threshing machinery.
Reused segmental granite arch on north west. C19 scissor truss roof with King-post
truss, known locally as a king key roof. Included for group value with Haye Barton.
