6/76 Lower Trengrove Farmhouse


GV II

Farmhouse circa C17, remodelled in late C19 with extension to south and outshut added
to rear on north. Rubblestone with large base stones on east with asbestos slate
roof with gable ends to north west range and slightly lower, cement washed scantle
slate roof to south range with some early slightly crested ridge tiles. Rubblestone
stacks with moulded granite strings and caps in west gable end and on west slope of
south range. Similar stack at junction of 2 wings removed. 'L' shaped plan with
through passage running from south to north of north west range. Plan completely
altered with fireplaces blocked and C19 staircase at junction of 2 wings. 2 storeys,
asymmetrical, 2 window south front to north west range. Door placed to right at
junction of 2 wings. Chamfered 4-centred granite arch with moulded stops. C19 plank
door. 2 C20 windows to left with 2 similar windows above. Asymmetrical 3 window
west front to south wing. C20 window to left in part blocked opening. Panelled and
glazed door to right beneath wide slate string. Above, C19 3-light casement, C20
window and 2-light casement without glazing bars. Wing extended to south in late
C19. Roof timbers not inspected.
