Pair of attached estate houses for Cotehele estate. Mid C19 with few later
alterations. Slatestone rubble. Hipped slate roof with crested ridge tiles and
central axial stack with rubble shaft.
Plan: Pair of attached houses, each of one-room plan, with entry directly into the
room; each room shares the axial stack with back-to back fireplaces. Crossfields is
to right; the other house to left has a 2-storey rear wing with end stack at the
corner.
Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 3-window front with C19 windows. First floor has 3
gabled half-dormers, each with 2-light casement with a slate louvred ventilator
above. Ground floor has door with cover strips to each house, 2-light casement to the
right of each door and a pitched hood continuous over all the ground floor openings.
Attached to the right end is a single storey lean-to with a single 6-pane light to
front. The left side has a small 2-light casement at ground floor; end stack to the
wing. The rear of the wing is rendered; door with sidelight and 2-light casement at
ground floor, 2-light casement at first floor.
