Farmhouse, now two houses. Circa mid C17, with C19 and later alterations.
Slatestone rubble, rendered at the front and sides. Slate roof with crested ridge
tiles, gable end to right and hipped to left. Gable end stack to right and 2 rear
lateral stacks to left, all rebuilt in C20.
Plan: 3-room and through passage plan, with the lower end room to right, heated from
a gable end stack. The hall is to left, heated from a rear lateral stack and the
inner room to end left, heated from a rear lateral stack. Circa later C17, a 2-
storey gabled bay was added to the front of the hall. There is an outshut of single
storey at the rear of the passage and the lower end room, extended as far as the hall
stack and originally used as a dairy. In circa late C19, the higher end was rebuilt
and the ceiling level in the hall raised, re-using original beams. The higher end
room is now used as a separate house, with a porch added in the angle to the hall
bay.
Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrical 4-window front, with 2-storey gabled hall bay, and
passage and lower end room to right. All windows are C20 casements with glazing
bars. The passage has C20 door with pitched slate hood. C20 porch set in the angle
to the hall bay to left. At the left end, a C20 casement at ground and first floor.
The rear has single storey outshut to left.
Interior: The hall has 2 large chamfered beams with run-out stops. Rear lateral
fireplace rebuilt in C20. The roof over the lower end room has 3 early trusses
remaining, with trenched purlins, principal rafters halved and pegged at the apex,
dovetailed and cambered collars. Roof over the higher end not accessible.
