Farmhouse. Early C19. Yellow shale with granite quoins, dressings and porch.
Scantle slate roof and brick gable chimneys. L-shaped including original outshut.
Symmetrical front, 2 storeys, 3 windows. Granite ashlar open porch with cavetto
moulded low pitched gable coping. Windows are later, 4-paned sashes in slightly
arched openings with granite voussoirs. External chimney breast to left side wall
has brick oven extension with slate roof. Slightly lower stair window to rear.
This and other back windows are sashes. Back door into outshut near angle.
Interior has central passage between front rooms to main open welled stair with
wreathed newel, mahogany handrail, square balusters and Vitruvian scroll detail.
Pantry behind room to right and kitchen at back to left continuing under outshut to
adjoining dairy. Second stair in kitchen also C17 oak panelling with guilloche
carving in top rail surviving from earlier house. Well is near back door.
