TL 51 NE AYTHORPE RODING
BARN APPROX. 15 METRES SW OF
2/79 POPLARS FARMHOUSE

GV II

Barn, late C16. Timber-framed, weatherboarded, main roofs of plain red clay tiles,
lean-to extension roofs of red pantiles. 3 bays aligned E-W with midstrey to N,
blocked and weatherboarded over. Later entrance made in middle bay of S wall.
Lean-to extensions on N wall to each side of midstrey. Jowled posts, cambered
tiebeams, inclined queen posts; arch braces below tiebeams missing. Roof
substantially original, with later repairs and re-inforcement, thatched until
c.1970. Curved tension braces trenched to inside of studs. Formerly no. 16/497
Grade III in the parish of High Roding.
