4/156 Nos 1 and 2 Goonglaze Cottages

3 adjoining cottages,now used as house and one cottage. Probably C18, part is
possibly older. Painted and partly rendered rubble and cob (some C20 replacement of
cob, with simulated cob surface on the right). Wheat reed thatched T-plan roof with
brick chimneys over the gable ends. Outbuilt stack on the left and at rear.
Corrugated asbestos roof over rear outshut.
Plan: Irregular T-shaped plan. C18 plan remodelled in the C20 so that there are now
3 large rooms at the front and a self-contained 1-room-plan cottage at right angles
at rear towards the left. C19 outshut behind the right-hand side.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall irregular 5 window front with most of the openings
original or in their original positions. C20 ledged doors. C20 6-pane horned
sashes.
Interior has some C18 ceiling beams at the left-hand end some of the C18 roof
structure and C19 first floor structure with wide floorboards in the C19 outshut.
