19.12.75
GV II

Small house. Circa late C18. Painted rubble and rendered cob walls, thatched roof,
slate sills, wooden lintels and brick chimneys over gable ends.
2-room plan intact: kitchen/living-room, left, with large hearth and stair against
rear wall, parlour on right with cross passage between. A further house formerly
adjoined the right-hand gable end.
2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window south-east front with window over central doorway
blind. 4-panel door and circa early C20 6-pane horned sashes but 1 original casement
survives at rear.
Interior is little altered: stick balusters to stair, ovolo-moulded beams, pine
muntin and plank partitions (obscured), ledged doors and a cupboard with a 2-panel
door.
The best surviving house in a group of 4 thatched buildings in the small village of
Berepper with 2 of the others on this list, Glen Cottage qv. and Toy Cottage qv.
