SS 20 NW BUDE-STRATTON POUGHILL

Watermill. Circa early C19. Stone rubble with slate roof with gabled ends. Mill
with overshot wheel. 3 storeys. 1 window front. Entrance through double timber
doors in left gable end. 2-light timber opening under timber lintel to first
floor. Wheel pit retains high wall. Iron framework of wheel intact. First floor
on wheel side has two 2-light openings, one light timber casements with vertical
glazing bars under timber lintels. Two similar 2-light timber openings to second
floor.
Interior: Ground floor has ten old millstones embedded in it. Horizontal-type
gearing intact. First floor retains 2 dressers with compartments for grading
grains. Second floor not inspected. Poughill Mill was in commercial use in 1948.
