Description

SW 72 NW CONSTANTINE

8/42 Milestone at south west 70952980
-
II

Milestone. Probably C18. Painted granite monolith in the form of a post about 1
metre high and 0.3 metre wide with a round head. Inscribed on the front in crude
upper case letters:
FROM
TRELO
WARREN
V
The milestone is set into a bank on the side of this ancient ridgeway from Gweek
northwards to the main Truro-Helston road. It is interesting that the stone was
intended only for travellers to the great house of Trelewarren in Mawgan-in-Meneage
parish qv.
