Fire station, now store. c.1900. Uncoursed killas rubble with granite
dressings, slate roof. Rectangular 2 1/2-unit plan. Tall single storey with
small turret; 2 tall wagon doorways with altered doors and deep 5-pane
overlights; to the left of these a narrow doorway to the same height, with
2-stage overlight in the upper half; moulded cornice carried across,
parapet with moulded coping; above the doorway to the left, a stone plaque
with raised lettering:-
"FIRE
STATION"
placed at the base of a single-stage corner turret which is square in
section but with chamfered corners, and has a narrow 10-pane sashed window
to the front and narrower openings in the sides, a moulded cornice carried
round, low parapet with moulded coping, and an octagonal siren on the roof,
with pyramidal cap. Metal ventilator with conical cap on centre of roof
ridge.
