Lych gate and coffin rest. C13 tomb slab used as coffin rest ; the lych gate was
built circa 1865-7 by Edmund Sedding incorporating C15 piers and arches from the
former south arcade of the church. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Dry
Delabole slate roof with projecting verges and eaves.
Plan: Grid stile with thick side walls incorporating C15 piers as responds to an
arched doorway at front and rear of the building. The coffin rest is just outside of
the lych gate in the middle of the path towards the south porch of the church.
Exterior: buttressed abutments to the front and rear 4-centred arches. C15 standard
A (Pevsner) piers as responds to the arches. Projecting wavy-edged barge boards over
exposed king post roof structure.
