Holy Well of St Credan

A Grade II Listed Building in Sancreed, Cornwall

Chapel Downs Holy Well, Sancreed, Cornwall

Uploader's Comments

This well is well-known and easy to find from the village of Sancreed. You can just see the glow of a votive light on the rock shelf inside. When I returned a few days later it had been replaced with another - presumably by a local. There is also a "stuffed owl" if you look carefully when at the bottom of the steps. For those interested in technical details, a small radio control flash was concealed inside the well itself to help lighten the deep gloom.
