House. Datestones: 1710, and 1863 to extension. Ashlar, extension is
roughcast, with sandstone dressings. East elevation of 2 storeys with attic and
5 bays, with 2-bay extension to south. Original part has chamfered base, string
band and coved cornice; rusticated quoins and coped gables with kneelers.
Windows have architraves and recessed flat-faced cross mullions and small-paned
glazings but 1st 2 bays of ground floor are sashed. 2 gabled dormers, probably
C19, have shaped plastered fronts and bolection moulded architrave and dated
open pediment, 4-panel door and overlight. Gable-end stacks. 1st bay of
extension has gable and end stack, 2 narrow sashes to ground floor; narrow 2nd
bay has flat-roofed porch, entrance with 2-light overlight and 1st floor sash;
cross-axial stack. South return of 3 bays, 2 canted bays of 2 storeys, 1st
floor parts later, with 1st floor sash between West elevation similar to that to
east; earlier part is partly roughcast, extension of rock-faced stone. Small
flat-roofed C20 extension with later timber sun lounge. Tall cross-mullioned
stair window to extension. North return has small gabled service wing and
stable with hipped roof. 2-light windows to 1st floor and attic, sashed window
with glazing bars to west of service wing; stable has west lean-to outshut and
ashlar dressings to east elevation. Interior has plastered beams and cornices
to hall and 2 rooms. another room has bolection-moulded fireplace with
cornice. Stair has turned balusters and close string cut by moulded handrail,
square balusters. 3-panel bolection-moulded doors. 1st floor has 2-panel
doors, C19 bathroom. Extension has open well stair, 2 turned balusters to the
tread and original fireplaces and grates.
