NY 33 SE MUNGRISDALE Mosedale

3/25 Croft House and
adjoining barns

G.V. II

Farmhouse and adjoining barns. Dated and inscribed over kitchen door H P (?)
1666 (Hugh Peacock) with alterations dated over main entrance 1743. Roughcast
walls, part whitewashed, on large projecting plinth stones. Graduated
greenslate roof with yellow brick chimney stacks. Barns of mixed slate and
cobble rubble under graduated greenslate roof (partly replaced with asbestos).
2 storeys, 3 bays and lower barn to left with right-angled barn extension,
forming overall L-shape. Right plank door in chamfered surround under Tudor
arch, dated and inscribed. Left plank door and sash windows, those between
doors double, all in painted C18 surrounds. Barn has plank door in chamfered
surround. Barn extension has central cart entrance with stone shippon to right
and plank doors to left, one in chamfered surround. C20 extension to rear of
barn extension is not of interest.
