Detached house. Circa 1820 with later C19 additions. Colourwashed render with
slate roof to main house and pantiles and plain C20 tiles to additions, 2 storey,
2-window south front. Ground floor windows are 16 pane sashes set in shallow
round-headed recesses; 9 pane sashes to upper floor. Left hand lean-to addition
containing staircase has a doorway with flat hood and 6 panel door; blind semi-
circular lunette above. Similar addition to right hand with C20 glazed covered
area to ground floor which projects to align with the principal facade from the
set back addition. Deeply projecting eaves cornice with geometric patterning on
the soffit, double span roof, end brick stacks. Interior. Staircase addition
to left hand has fine early C19 staircase with ramped mahogany handrail and reeded
balusters. Stairwell at ground floor level has several arched entrances giving
access to the reception rooms. The house was formerly known as Mendip View.
