Including Post Office

A Grade II Listed Building in Denton, Lincolnshire

No 136 The Old Post Office, Main Street, Denton

Uploader's Comments

Opposite the Post Office is what appears to have been a water trough, fed by a spring (eg issuing at SK 86848 32357). If such, it would have watered the horses used to journey to and from the Post Office and pehaps also the Agent of the Estates House. The cast iron feed pipe is now sealed; the running water being a hazard to modern road users. Not included in listing, but picture shows C19 context. Next door to the old Post Office but not shown, is a C19 coach house set within a yard. (Photo May 2013) (To the right a post stable, now used as a garage).
