The identity of this monument is uncertain. However the kneeling figure could be Richard III, a scroll coming from his mouth. The antiquary Dodsworth recorded the shields in 1623 which included the royal arms of England (with a label), Neville & Beauchamp (earls of Warwick). If true, any suggestion that it represents an earlier Neville could be discounted.
