The stone part on the right is now thought to be 16th century (1500s). A James Ella was a corn-miller here c.1674-1691 (Goods Inventory: James Ellay/Ella, year 1691, at the Durham Univerity Archives. It lists what he had in the home and mill). The old water wheel was on the right-side.
