Summerhouse at TG 0636 3895 in grounds of Letheringsett Hall, (qv 6/85)

Rustic summerhouse, mid C19. Burr oak, much still with its bark, reed
thatched roof. Rectangular single cell with semi-circular open front
supported by rustic oak piers. Walls of ½ oak logs. Gable to east with
wall of decorative geometrically arranged stripped sticks, Y-tracery window
of curved oak branches C15 glass removed c1958 to Church of St. Andrew (q.v.
6/94). Interior: walls and roof lined with reeds battoned with hazel and
willow, fircone decoration, frieze of split willow; continuous wood bench;
floor of cross grained oak blocks.
