5/299 The Old Vicarage
II
Vicarage, now dwelling. Dated 1838. Good Cotswold ashlar to plinth, cornice
and blocking, coped gables, double span slate roof. Main (south) front is 2
storeys, 3-windowed, the central bay brought forward, with gable containing
date-stone, all in a Tudor Gothick style. Windows are 2-light stone mullioned
in Tudor heads with stopped drips, and with transom at ground floor, central
pair of doors each with 2 vertical panels, under 4-centred fanlight with inter-
secting glazing bars, all in Tudor head with spandrels. Small lean-to exten-
sion, left. Road front is two coped gables, 2½ storeys 1 + 1-windowed 9-pane
over 12-pane in stopped drips, a flat-roofed canted bay with deep windows in
10:15:10-panes; small lancet with drip in each gable. A splendid example of its
genre, well preserved externally.
