GV II

Stable block, late C18 or early C19 with later C19 alterations. Flemish bond
brickwork with slate roofs. A large complex of stabling, carriage houses and
associated functions disposed around a central courtyard. Of 2 and 3 storeys.
Slightly higher square towers to each corner and over the gateway at the centre
of the south range. Fenestration is varied, mostly sashes of various sizes but
also some casements. Some features are emphasised with Venetian windows. Many
doors and windows have elliptical heads. To the west is a shaped gable, said
to be a later addition. (RCHM, Dorset, vol V, p 44, no. 3, Newman J and
