Former Horse Track Entrance to Allenheads Mine, C19. Stone, cast-iron.
Rectangular enclosure with iron railings on low stone walls, mine entrance
now infilled with rubble, etc. A mine entrance of very unusual type, by
which ponies could descend a spiral incline at a gradient of 1 in 4 into
the lead mine workings.
