Former National School and Schoolhouse, now in commercial and domestic use.
Dateplaque: "Marston and Lidlington School. 1847" and inscription: "Fear God"
By J.T. Wing of Bedford. Red and yellow chequered brick. Slate roofs.
Consists of single-storeyed L-plan school, with 2-storeyed schoolhouse block
set at right angles at SW end. School: central 4-light window in slightly
projecting bay surmounted by small gable. This is flanked by 2 3-light
windows, again in slightly projecting bays. All 3 have timber mullions and
transoms and cast iron honeycomb glazing, and are under gauged brick flat
heads. Rear elevation has one similar window. Rear wing has plain windows
has one similar window. Rear wing has plain windows. Schoolhouse: gable to
road. Full height central projecting bay with moulded stone cornice between
floors. Ground floor has mullion and transom window, first floor has 2-light
mullioned window, and transom window, first floor has 2-light mullioned
window, both with same honeycomb glazing as school. SW elevation has 2
similar style windows and 3 blind windows. Central multiple ridge stack of
brick. All roofs have deep eaves and verges.
