House with attached pair of cottages, now one house. Probably early C19, with
cottages added in mid C19 and some later alterations. Slatestone rubble, the house
rendered and the cottages painted; brick dressings. Scantle slate roof with ridge
tiles, partly slurried, with gable ends; gable end stacks, the shafts set diagonally
on stacks of the main house.
Plan: The house is of 2-room plan, with the original front now at the right side;
each room heated by a gable end stack, and with a porch added in the angle to the
main range, now the front. Added to the rear of the wing, a pair of one-room plan
cottages, each room heated by gable end stack, and with paired central entrances.
Cottages in Gothic style.
Exterior: House is of 2 storeys, slightly advanced from the cottages; plain door with
segmental head, 2-light C20 casement at ground and first floor to left. Blind gable
end of the main range to right. To left, the cottages form a 2-storey symmetrical 3-
window range. First floor has 3 pointed arched windows with brick hood moulds and
Gothic glazing bars. Ground floor has central pair of plain doors under one timber
lintel. 2-light 8-pane casement with brick segmental head to right, pointed arched
window to left, blocked, with small casement inserted. the right side has central C20
porch on wooden piers with plain door with segmental head; C20 2-light casement right
and left at ground and first floor. At the left side a fireplace projection at first
floor. Rear of the cottages is built into the bank, with a central door at first
floor, blocked, with C20 window inserted. At the rear of the addition to the house, a
single storey lean-to. Interior:
