Description

SANCREED TREGONEBRIS
SW 42 NW
5/309 Barn and adjoining outbuildings
- immediately south of Tregonebris
Old Manor House
GV II
Bank barn and adjoining outbuildings. Circa early-mid C19. Granite rubble with
granite dressings. Scantle slate roofs. Half-hipped roof over barn otherwise hipped
roofs except for corrugated iron roofs over small front and rear gable-ended wings.
Back chimney over front end of wing right of barn.
Plan: Overall L-shaped plan plus small wing at right angles in front of middle of
the barn and another small wing at right angles behind the left-hand side of the
barn. At right angles and projecting in front of the barn on the right is a single-
storey range built in 2 phases; the part adjoining the barn is probably a washhouse.
Barn originally had 2 threshing floors with opposing loading/winnowing doorways with
rear doorways nearly level with bank at rear.
Exterior: 2 storey barn with single-storey extensions. 4 window south front.
Central gabled-ended waggon house wing in front of probably original waggon doorway.
Original openings, except that first floor loading doorways are partly blocked and
fitted with windows. Old ledged doors and some possibly original 2-light windows:
ground floor left-hand window has bars, first floor window towards right has shutters
(rear has 2 shuttered windows). On the left is a single-storey wing with a doorway
on its right; on the right is a wing projecting in front. The part nearer to the
barn has 2 doorways in its left-hand wall and 2 original 12-pane 2-light casements
in its right-hand wall (ovelooking the front garden of Tregonebris Cottage).
Interior not inspected.
