8/93 No 4, Anthony Cottage including
- front garden area wall and gate-


Cottage in a row of cottages. Circa mid C19. Granite rubble with coursed and
dressed granite front. Asbestos slate roof with gable ends abutting the adjoining
houses. Brick stack at left hand gable end.
Plan: Single depth plan with 2 rooms and a central entrance in the front range and a
1-room plan wing at the back probably containing the kitchen with a gable end stack.
At the rear of the wing a C20 conservatory.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 2-window front. Relatively large original C19
sashes with margin glazing bars and horns.
Dressed granite lintels to the ground windows and slate cills. Central doorway with
small canopy on large console brackets, plain rectangular overlight and original C19
door with 2 moulded vertical panels.
The inner east side of the rear wing has a sash on each floor similar to those at the
front and a plank door with an overlight.
Including the garden area wall and gate-posts in front; dressed granite dwarf wall
and small monolithic rusticated granite gate-posts at the centre. The wrought-iron
gate and railings over the dwarf wall are late C20. There is an attractive patterned
cobble path from the gateway to the front door and a monkey-puzzle tree in the front
Interior: Not inspected but may have contemporary features of interest.
St Anthony Cottage is the only remaining unspoilt house in Fore Street.
